Atwater Kent model 21 (7780)
1925 5-tube TRF battery-operated radio manufactured by Atwater Kent Mfg. Co. in Philadelphia PA. This is the rare dry-cell version of the model 20 Compact and used UV199 tubes rather than the UX-201A. 17,584 were sold in 1925 but 7,208 were returned in 1926 when Atwater Kent recalled them. From the outside, these look identical to a model 20 Compact except the small raised circle above the rheostat controls has an additional concentric circle molded into it signifying that the rheostats are for UV199 tube filaments rather than the 5-volt filaments used in the model 20. See Douglas vol1,p68,72,79.
